The 2011 Homer Jackpot Halibut Derby
is officially over!
The big fish for June is our Derby
Winner!! Chad Aldridge of
Soldotna, AK caught his barn door halibut on Father's Day, June 19th,
and it has earned him $28,260.
We would like to thank all sponsors, ticket sellers, volunteers,
staff and Board of Directors for their continued support for the 2011
Derby season. We will see you all in 2012 for another great Derby
season!
 Chad Aldridge and his dad Ron and some
other family members were out fishing near Seldovia on their private
boat, the "Seabee" for Father's Day, having a great day. They decided to
reel up and call it a day and then she hit and an hour and twenty
minutes later they landed the 350.8 lbs monster Halibut. They called the
Derby Office to let them know that they had a "small" fish to weigh in.
The weigh master was a little surprised when she saw how big that
"small" fish was. Chad was so pumped up and could hardly wait to see the
weight and was in awe of his fantastic catch of the day. He said they
were not fishing for a big fish, but they sure caught one!
Chad and his dad Ron Aldridge never fish without a
derby ticket and it paid off!
And the winners of the drawings held at the Derby Awards party are:

Remember anglers, Homer has a two fish per day
per person halibut catch limit!!
The Homer Jackpot Halibut Derby is an annual event,
in 2012, running from May 15
to September 15 each year. Tickets are $10.
